The district of "Monplaisir" is a "village" in the city.

The shopping street of the "Lumière brothers", the market square "Ambroise Courtois" (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings) contribute to this village atmosphere.


This area was the birthplace of cinema in the workshops of the Lumière brothers (now the Institute "Lumière").
The institute includes the film museum, a library, a cinema and a landscaped park of remarkable trees.
The park is open to the public every day and many people come to stroll.
